When you visit the picturesque village of Hall it's easy to see why Helen Purdam, Principal of the Hall Veterinary Surgery, has called the area home for over 25 years!
Helen remembers wanting to be a vet from the age of 5. "My love of animals grew by spending weekends on a friend's horse and cattle stud for the next 15 years". Helen graduated from the University of Queensland in 1980 and worked her first year in a mixed practice in the Lockyer Valley (Queensland). As the first female vet to work there and looking sixteen at the time, Helen vividly remembers a lot of disbelieving farmers' faces. In 1982 she moved to Hall.
Over the years, Helen has participated in distance education in medicine and surgery, and also qualified in veterinary acupuncture. "I'm most fortunate to share the Hall Veterinary practice with three other vets and six nurses who are a wonderfully competent and fun team". "I find veterinary practice is immensely rewarding and challenging and gain great joy from the company of animals and the people who care for them".
Today, Hall Veterinary Surgery operates from modern, well equipped premises in Victoria Street.

Hall Vets 'Mr Handyman'
Office Manager (and self confessed 'general handyman') Andrew Purdam keeps the practice going by making sure the office and computer systems operate as they should. In a previous life, Andrew worked in the Computer Service Centre at the ANU and he has harnessed these skills to create a fantastic web site for the practice. The web site is full of information about the practice and the people who care for the animals in it. They certainly are a very diverse and fascinating bunch of people. Check out the Hall Veterinary Surgery web site - it's well worth a look.Hall Vets are nestled in the beautiful Hall Village.
