Lake Eucumbene

Lake Eucumbene is located in the Snowy Mountains of NSW, 120km to the S/SW of Gungahlin. The lake was created in 1959 as part of the massive Snowy Mountains Hydro-Electric project.

The original township of Adaminaby (now mostly below the waters of the lake) was moved some 7km away to make way for the rising waters of the lake.

The Adaminaby area is brimming with history and as the waters drop in summer many of the house foundations from the original town can be seen on the banks of the lake.

At an elevation of 1,180 meters the Lake Eucumbene has a rich and diverse landscape and unique climate. We have captured some of the images from this amazing piece of Australia and included them here. There's more to follow so make sure you visit often!
