Burgmann's Forde campus opens

Burgmann Anglican School’s new Forde campus opened last Wednesday morning to the praise of parents and teachers. The new Campus will cater for some of the region’s youngest citizens, with about 100 spots available for kindergarten and year one in 2009. An extra 50 spots are available for preschool students, who will start mid-March. Burgmann Forde’s early learning classes extend to year two next year and will eventually grow to include a middle school.

Head of early learning Wendy Hegarty said the new campus “is a bonus for the entire Forde community”. “We are certainly very excited to be offering such a wonderful early learning environment,” she said. “We have hand picked all the teachers, who have a great understanding of young children’s needs. The smaller groups will provide the perfect path to start learning and growing.”

Principal Steven Bowers was thrilled with how the children had handled the new experience. “I’m really happy to come here and see so many smiling faces, they are all well settled and have handled the situation wonderfully,” he said.

Mr Bowers said community support was vital in getting Burgmann Forde up and running. “We couldn’t be happier with the support offered by parents, the community and our staff,” he said. “This is a very new area made up largely of younger families with small children, it will be fantastic to see our children grow with the school and the rest of the Forde community.

While he was a special guest on the first day of school, Mr Bowers will move to the ACT in the second term once he has finalised his prior commitments at Shore in North Sydney.

Burgmann’s original campus at Gungahlin is an example of quality independent education with classes stretching from preschool to year 12.

Several positions for year one students are still available. Parents interested in enrolling their children at Burgmann Anglican’s Forde campus should contact the school directly on 6255 7700.
