Palmerston man arrested

A Palmerston man appeared in the Magistrates Court last week charged with possession of weapons and a prohibited substance.

Police arrested the 45-year-old man after an incident near Palmerston shops on Thursday, March 5. At about 7.40pm police received reports of a man walking in the area allegedly talking about being in possession of a shotgun. He was then seen walking down a footpath towards Mainwaring Rich Circuit in Palmerston.

Shortly afterwards, members of the Gungahlin patrol arrived in the area. Upon seeing police, the man allegedly attempted to flee but was arrested without further incident.

Police conducted a search of the man’s backpack and found a firearm, a knife and a small amount of cannabis. The man was arrested and taken to the City Regional Watch House.
