Cannabis seized in Amaroo

Police seized seven mature cannabis plants from a house in Amaroo last Thursday (March 12). Detectives from the Territory Investigations Group searched the house at about 3.15pm, locating the six-foot (183cm) high plants in the backyard.

A 33-year old man and a 27 year-old woman, both from Amaroo, will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date, charged with cultivation of a controlled plant and supply of a prohibited substance.

Police have urged all Canberrans to be on the look out for any suspicious activity at homes in their neighbourhood that could be related to illegal drug manufacturing. They said things to look out for included strange odours, blackened-out windows, unusual traffic flow, chemical containers and waste, hoses and pipes for ventilation or water supply and extremely bright indoor lighting visible through drawn blinds or sealed windows.

Anyone with information should contact crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
