Gungahlin rates to rise following 2009 ACT Bugdet

Owners of residential properties in the ACT will be paying on average an extra $43 in general rates next financial year.The general rates increase is on average $19 for rural properties and $202 for commercial properties. Some households will face bigger rises due to increases in unimproved land values, with estimated rates for a standard house block in Franklin increasing by more than 22%, or almost $200, compared with last year, reflecting the newness of the suburb.
