League boost helps Gungahlin Bulls

The Gungahlin Bulls will share in $1million worth of new sporting equipment that is being distributed to rugby league clubs across the country.

The 2009 round of funding from the Telstra Assistance Fund was launched in May and the Bulls were chosen from more than 600 applications. This means the club will receive essential equipment such as footballs, water bottles, tackle bags and hit shields.

NRL player and Parramatta Eels legend Nathan Hindmarsh was thrilled with the number of clubs who applied and were successful through the fund. “I know how critical a role our local sports and community clubs play in developing young sportspeople and it’s great to see so many clubs around Australia benefiting,” he said.

Telstra’s area general manager, Ian Peters, said the company was proud to continue to support grassroots and community clubs in Canberra. “Telstra’s eight year partnership with the NRL has delivered many tangible benefits to communities right across Australia and the Telstra Assistance Fund is just one example of this,” he said.

Other Canberra rugby league clubs to benefit from the latest round of funding were University of Canberra, Tuggeranong Buffaloes and North Canberra Bears.
