Gungahlin business park hopes to lure public servants

A Kingston company has submitted a development application for a $68 million business park
in Gungahlin which could house up to 500 public servants.
GEOCON Commercial Holdings hopes to construct six buildings on prime land on the corner
of Anthony Rolfe Avenue and Gribble Street.
The 17,264 square metre site would feature $25 million of office space in two buildings
expected to be up to 12 storeys high. Four remaining buildings would host a mix of buildings
and retail ventures, including a childcare centre, a gym, cafe, restaurant and outdoor play
area. The plans include two levels of basement parking as well as undercover parking on the
ground level.
The ACT Government has announced it will move 500 workers from the Treasury Directorate
out to Gungahlin and has shortlisted five companies - KDN Group, Capital Property Group,
Amalgamated Property Group, Doma Australia Holdings and Landco - to provide that office
space.
GEOCON Constructors is a Kingston based company with $120 million of development
already underway across the city. This includes the Vue apartments in Tuggeranong, the
Fringe at Epicentre commercial suites in Fyshwick and Abode Hotel in Gungahlin, which sits
directly opposite the proposed business park.
The company has also completed residential buildings in Kingston, Harrison, Bonner and
Franklin.
It's understood the ACT Government will cut its shortlist of preferred developers down to three
at the end of the month.
